In a highly competitive global market, fashion designers and executives need state, federal, and international laws to protect their intellectual property— their brands and the products by which their customers recognize them. And because the design and marketing of fashion goods requires the collaboration of many professionals with different areas of expertise, written agreements are essential for the successful management of any fashion business. Fashion Law provides a guide to such vital issues as the application of copyright, patent, trademark, and trade dress protection; agreements for licensing, selling, and marketing fashion goods, domestically and abroad; and laws affecting treatment of employees, leasing of retail property, and international trade. Fashion law is an emerging legal specialty, and this text provides a foundation for fashion professionals and their legal advisors to work together effectively.

• Authoritative text by attorneys specializing in various aspects of fashion law

• Practice tips and sample clauses for contracts that apply legal principles and laws to the unique needs of the fashion industry

• Real court cases and other examples of the role of law in the fashion business
